Biography

Hello! My name is Jessica Fuchs. I am 13 years old and I live in Georgia. I began skating when I was 7 years old in Chicago. My best friend was taking skating lessons, so I wanted to as well. I skated at the Polar Dome in Dundee, Illinois, for 2 seasons and was in the big show at the end of each. When we moved to Georgia, I joined Georgia Figure Skating Club and was asked to skate on the synchronized team, Peach Frost. I skated with them for 1 year and then the team disbanded. Most of the kids stopped skating, but I continued skating individually and found my coach that I have now, Mindy Sellers. Ms. Mindy is an awesome coach and has taken me so far! I can now say that I am starting to work on my triple jumps and when I started with her just 4 years ago, I was only doing waltz jumps.

Since I moved here and started taking skating seriously, my grades in school have been great. I have been on the honor roll each year and am now in middle school where I am in all accelerated classes. My parents have told me that I have to keep my grades up in order to skate. I am very excited because this is the first year that I have gone to the same school two years in a row!

I take my skating very seriously. I skate 6 days a week. 3 of those days are before school at 6:00 a.m. I go to the gym for strength and flexibility classes and I also take ballet and jazz lessons to try and help with my presentation. This year I have also added ice dancing into my training.

My goals are to be the best skater I can be and to improve each year. My best memory of skating is during my preliminary year when I made my coach cry. I would love to be able to make her cry again by skating a clean program and medaling during this competitive season.
